The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism will be launching a new marketing campaign called “Work Remotely, Live Uniquely”. The goal of the campaign is to reach professionals who can work or locate their business anywhere they choose and individuals looking to buy a second home, retire or open a satellite business location. The campaign will sell the Alleghany Highlands scenic beauty, quality of life, low cost of living, and friendly community atmosphere as a reason to relocate to the region.

With the availability of high-speed fiber optic internet, it has become much easier to telework in the Alleghany Highlands. The region also has quality healthcare and schools, including JRTC and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, 10 other colleges and universities within a two-hour drive, two airports within an hour drive as well as an Amtrak stop. “The Alleghany Highlands Region has so much to offer professionals looking to relocate from both a quality-of-life standpoint and also access to a number of technical and economic resources that help make working remotely & relocating to the Alleghany Highlands less challenging,” said Chamber Executive Director, Teresa Hammond.

From a quality of life standpoint, the Alleghany Highlands offers abundant outdoor recreational opportunities with hundreds of miles of trails for hiking & biking including the Jackson River Scenic Trail, lakes, rivers & streams for water recreation, and unique arts venues including the Alleghany Highlands Arts & Crafts Center, the Clifton Forge School of the Arts and the Historic Masonic Theatre. Youth and adult sports, civic organizations, and a full facility YMCA provide something for everyone.

The Live Uniquely campaign will include valuable information for people to review when considering a move to the region. A Facebook & LinkedIn page has been created, a new website – https://liveuniquely.org/, a promotional video highlighting living and working in the Alleghany Highlands, campaign-specific ads, a media plan, themed brochure & relocation resources for inquiries, and much more! Surveys were sent to local realtors for input on the campaign. Funding for the campaign came from a grant awarded by the Alleghany Foundation in hopes of attracting new professional workers to the Alleghany Highlands Region.
