Landscaping Begins

Covington-Alleghany Industrial Development Authority Public Notice

JOINT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF ALLEGHANY REGIONAL COMMERCE CENTER WITH CITY OF COVINGTON AND ALLEGHANY COUNTY

Laying the Landscape Begins!

The Covington-Alleghany Industrial Development Authority (CA-IDA), would like to make area residents and businesses aware of the progress taking place with the Alleghany Regional Commerce Center, a.k.a. Pad Ready Site, located near Timber Lane and Piney Ridge Road. The CA-IDA, has been working diligently with the City and County together on this project for funding, engineering, project management, etc.

The CA-IDA has contracted with Dooley’s for logging and tree removal, which is set to begin tomorrow. The logging process will remove the trees, but will keep the stump and tree roots in place. This planned logging effort, meets Department of Environmental Quality regulations and guidelines. This phase of the project will be completed by April 1st, so as to minimize impact on what has been identified through an environmental study of a potential nesting area for a particular species of bat.

Our goal of clearing the site will aide in marketability of the land and assist with planning the construction phase and bid preparation process. The CA-IDA Board of Directors and its Co-Directors are excited to see this project come to life for the Alleghany Highlands and bring with it future growth and investment!

Questions regarding tree clearing should be directed to:
Melissa Munsey, CA-IDA Secretary at 540-863-6600, or
Krystal Onaitis, CA-IDA Co-Director at 540-965-6300
